A year in review

For nearly 75 years, LOGAN has led the way, redefining expectations and expanding possibilities. Our steadfast dedication has made us a powerful advocate for inclusion, inspiring others to create opportunities and empowering those we serve through advocacy.

At the 2024 Great LOGAN Nose-On, we were honored to hear from Mark and John Cronin, who co-founded John's Crazy Socks, a social enterprise with a mission to spread happiness through colorful and creative socks.

Both John’s Crazy Socks and LOGAN’s Employment Services recognize that people with disabilities have valuable skills, strong work ethics, and a desire to contribute to their communities. LOGAN actively helps individuals find jobs that match their strengths and interests, just as John and Mark advocate for businesses to hire inclusively.

John and Mark have a powerful message: "Hiring people with disabilities is not just the right thing to do—it's good for business."  John’s Crazy Socks has created an inclusive workforce where more than half of their employees have disabilities. They’ve proven that employing people with disabilities isn’t charity—it’s smart business.

Their story has inspired many other companies to rethink their hiring practices and embrace a more inclusive workforce. They encourage companies to "Give someone a chance, and they’ll amaze you." Their message is clear: when businesses open their doors to people with disabilities, everyone benefits.

Milestone Events

LOGAN recently celebrated two significant ribbon-cutting ceremonies, marking new milestones in expanding support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. CAPS, a non-profit organization that has been a leader in preventing child abuse and neglect in Elkhart County, aligns well with the LOGAN mission; we are both committed to helping families thrive.

At CAPS, the new collaboration enhances early intervention efforts, providing vital resources and services to families navigating developmental challenges.

Meanwhile, the ribbon-cutting at Lake Michigan College signifies a commitment to inclusive education, ensuring that students of all abilities have access to meaningful learning opportunities and support. These partnerships reflect LOGAN’s ongoing mission to create more inclusive communities, breaking down barriers and empowering individuals to reach their full potential.

Diamond View Apartments Ground Breaking

LOGAN proudly celebrated the ribbon-cutting of Diamond View Apartments in South Bend, IN, a milestone in creating more inclusive and accessible housing opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This innovative housing project provides safe, supportive, and independent living options, empowering residents to thrive within the community. Diamond View Apartments exemplify the power of collaboration, bringing together local organizations, advocates, and community leaders to expand housing choices that promote dignity and independence. This achievement underscores LOGAN’s commitment to breaking down barriers and fostering a more inclusive South Bend for all.

75 Year Kick-Off Event

In 2024, LOGAN kicked off its 75th anniversary with a memorable celebration, honoring decades of impact, growth, and advocacy for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The event brought together families, supporters, and community leaders to reflect on LOGAN’s rich history while looking forward to an even brighter future. The celebration served as both a milestone and a launchpad for continued innovation, reinforcing LOGAN’s unwavering commitment to inclusion, empowerment, and expanding opportunities for those it serves.
